Hello Tall World

By: Georgiana McCall

How quickly this year has slipped by.  Here we are at the Holiday Season again and 2003 is around the corner.  I close my eyes and think back on all my tall club adventures.  Although I joined Atlanta Sky Hi in 1994, it seems I've been a member much longer.  Since 2000 when I moved up here to the Ellijay mountains, I've become a semi-active member but I get those photo albums out often to reminisce.  Tall club friends knocking on my door always bring "the club" home to me.

Our ChattaBooga Weekend October 25th through the 27th was, again, a blast.  I was honored to handle this year's awards.  This job would have been impossible without the fine award certificates created by Warren or the judging skills of Terry and Mimi…thanks guys.  Carol Hudson, from Houston, won Best Female Costume.  Carol came as a salon gal and had stayed up until four in the morning a few days before our weekend finishing her dress which used 27 yards of material.  Wally Moon won Best Male Costume as a scary "Scream Guy."  See the pictures!  Jack T. and Brenda F. won a special award and, all I can repeat is, "see the pictures."  Jack, you are Such a Dog!  Jack also won the BIG FAT ChattaBooga Experience award and you'll have to ask Terry Kelly for an explanation.  Dean Tilly of Big Lake, Mn got the Travel Award.  We had a Tallest Male Award won by Terry Kelly and a Tallest Female Award won by Linda Wendt.  The Best Fangs award went to Alabama's handsomest Dracula, Michael Falon.  The Battiest or Scariest Award went to our own President, Ed Judge who had quite a following in the lobby of the Choo Choo as an eight something foot Frankenstein.   Special awards were handed out to Sharon for the great goody bags and Lori and Stan for pulling it all together for us.

On a serious note, elections are being held at the December business meeting (see calendar for details).  I'm worried that our club and others will slowly fade away if we don't stir up more interest not only in membership but in participating as well.  We need some good strong officers for next year and the same people can't keep doing this year after year.  Membership and Social Chairs are key positions.  Without new members we wither and without good planned events we lose interest.  You can make a difference in the survival of our unique and special club.  Please give serious consideration not only to attending the December business meeting to vote but, also, to what you can to participate in 2003.

In closing, I want to again thank everyone for the cards, emails, visits and other support given me during this horrendous bad health year.  My health problem is now under control with medication.  My Oncologist just advised me that my white blood cell count has stabilized.  He says that after three or four years if the white cell count hasn't doubled then I should not be worried about this cancer doing me in.  This would be a very rare thing but it does happen so wish me luck.  I've always said that the bad things which happen to people are nearly always something they hadn't worried about in the first place.  So true!

Well, hope everyone has a Very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.  May peace, happiness and, most of all love be with you in 2003.  From all creature great and small here Eagle Mountains-the deer, turkeys, Burt the Bird, Willie the Killer Dog, two coy Koi and the worldly georgia gypsy in the home nest.
